For over two years, I worked as a science writer at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), a federal agency within the NIH. I worked on stories ranging from basic science to health equity. I also served as lead editor for the newsletter The Genomics Landscape. I left the NIH in February of 2025 because of directives from the current administration. Links may be broken as some of my and my colleague’s work was removed in response to anti-DEI executive orders.

Freelance
Almost every story is in some part a science story, which has led me to cover diverse topics as a freelance science writer. My work has appeared in both science-oriented outlets like Scientific American and Discover, as well as broader publications like Slate and Teen Vogue. You can check out my journalism page to find examples.
I’ve also been a contract freelancer for science journals and publications such as the Public Library of Science (PLOS) and Live Science.
